ZZZ Velina Kit Explained

Velina's gameplay centers on setting up cyclones, switching to another Anomaly Agent, and returning when she has resources to spend.

Core Skill

Velina converts initial Energy Regen into additional DMG and Anomaly Mastery. This makes Energy Regen an offensive stat for her, not simply a way to use more EX Special Attacks.

Vortex triggers build Windbite, eventually summoning a Sweeping Cyclone. These cyclones apply Wind Anomaly and reduce enemy Anomaly Buildup RES. They can also take on the attribute contaminating an enemy.

Her Additional Ability activates with another Anomaly Agent or Wind Agent, improving her cyclone's Daze, buildup, and debuff effects.

Special Attack

EX Special Attack Wind Shear Triple Deathblow.gif

Velina's first two EX Special Attacks generate Windbloom. Once she has at least 90 Windbloom, holding Special Attack or Basic Attack activates Eye of the Storm, summoning a Sweeping Cyclone.

This is the part of her rotation worth learning first. Use her EX attacks to build the resource, summon the cyclone, then return to your main Anomaly damage dealer.

Basic Attack and Assist

Basic Attack Dancing Fans.gif

After either Energy-consuming EX Special Attack, Velina can jump directly into the fifth hit of her Basic Attack combo. Use this shortcut when a little more Wind buildup will help trigger Windswept.

Her Defensive Assist and Assist Follow-Up are also useful opportunities to contribute Daze and Anomaly buildup without keeping her on field for a full Basic Attack sequence.

Ultimate

Ultimate Heed the Tempest.gif

Velina's Ultimate deals Wind damage and substantial Wind Anomaly buildup. With her Additional Ability active, its heavy hit also triggers Abloom against an enemy affected by Wind Anomaly.

Both her Ultimate and Eye of the Storm can trigger the previous Agent's Quick Assist. Place your intended on-field damage dealer immediately before Velina in the squad order.

Best Velina Build

The recommended Velina build is:

  • Best W-Engine: Joyau Dore
  • A-Rank options: Kaboom the Cannon or Boisterous Echoes
  • Drive Discs: 4-Pc Wuthering Salon + 2-Pc Swing Jazz or Moonlight Lullaby
  • Disc 4: Anomaly Proficiency
  • Disc 5: Wind DMG Bonus, ATK%, or PEN Ratio
  • Disc 6: Energy Regen
  • Substats: Anomaly Proficiency and ATK%, followed by PEN and flat ATK

Unlike many Anomaly Agents, Velina normally wants Energy Regen rather than Anomaly Mastery on Disc 6. Her Core Passive supplies Anomaly Mastery while the additional Energy supports more frequent EX attacks.

Best W-Engines for Velina

Joyau Dore

Joyau Dore.webp

Joyau Dore is Velina's best W-Engine. Its Energy Regen advanced stat supports her Core Passive and helps her use EX Special Attacks more frequently.

Its passive increases Anomaly Proficiency and strengthens Vortex and Windswept damage. After building two stacks through her EX Special Attacks, it also grants Anomaly Proficiency to the entire squad.

Flamemaker Shaker

Flamemaker Shaker.webp

Flamemaker Shaker provides Anomaly Proficiency, damage bonuses, and additional Energy recovery while Velina is off-field. These effects suit her quick-swap playstyle and help sustain her EX Special Attack cycle.

It is a strong alternative if you already own it, although its short-duration damage buffs require regular EX Special Attack or Assist Attack hits.

Fusion Compiler

Fusion Compiler.webp

Fusion Compiler provides PEN Ratio and an ATK increase, with additional Anomaly Proficiency stacks gained by using Special Attacks or EX Special Attacks.

Velina can activate these effects through her normal rotation, making it a useful option for players who already have it. Keep Energy Regen on Disc 6, as Fusion Compiler does not provide it.

Boisterous Echoes

Boisterous Echoes.webp

Boisterous Echoes is a practical choice if you obtained it during its original event. It provides Anomaly Proficiency, increases damage against enemies affected by Attribute Anomalies, and restores Energy when Velina triggers Vortex.

Its Energy recovery helps her rotation, making it a useful alternative without investing in another S-Rank W-Engine.

Rainforest Gourmet

Rainforest Gourmet.webp

Rainforest Gourmet provides Anomaly Proficiency and grants stacking ATK buffs as Velina consumes Energy. Her EX Special Attacks naturally activate these buffs.

It is an accessible starting option if you lack the weapons above. Pair it with an Energy Regen Disc 6 and a two-piece Energy Regen set to support her rotation.

Best Drive Discs for Velina

4-Pc Wuthering Salon

Wuthering Salon.webp

Wuthering Salon is Velina's preferred four-piece set.

Its two-piece effect provides 10% Wind DMG. The four-piece effect grants Anomaly Proficiency when she uses EX Special Attacks, stacking twice, and increases her damage after she triggers Windswept.

These conditions fit her normal rotation. She does not need to spend extra field time maintaining an unrelated buff.

2-Pc Swing Jazz or Moonlight Lullaby

Swing Jazz.webpMoonlight Lullaby.webp

Both sets provide 20% Energy Regen through their two-piece effects.

Choose whichever gives you better Anomaly Proficiency and ATK% substats. There is no need to farm a second set of equivalent pieces simply to change the set name.

A damage-focused two-piece set may look appealing, but replacing Energy Regen can reduce her Core Passive bonuses and the number of EX attacks available during a fight.

Velina Main Stats and Substats

Anomaly Proficiency is the standard Disc 4 choice.

For Disc 5, Wind DMG Bonus is a straightforward option, while ATK% and PEN Ratio can also perform well. Their relative value changes with team buffs and enemy defenses, so a piece with excellent substats can be more useful than a poorly rolled Wind DMG disc.

Prioritize these substats:

Anomaly Proficiency ≈ ATK% > PEN > flat ATK

These stats improve Velina's own Windswept and Abloom damage. Regular CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG should not take priority in her Anomaly build.

How Much Energy Regen Does Velina Need?

Aim for 2.88 initial Energy Regen with a fully upgraded Core Passive. This reaches the cap of its conversion bonuses: 35% additional DMG and 84 Anomaly Mastery.

A common way to reach this is:

  • A fully upgraded W-Engine with 60% Energy Regen
  • An Energy Regen Disc 6
  • A two-piece set providing 20% Energy Regen

The target refers to her initial stat. Direct Energy restoration and conditional off-field recovery are not interchangeable with it.

Velina Skill Priority

Velina recommended upgrade order is:

Core Skill > Special Attack > Chain Attack > Assist > Basic Attack > Dodge

Upgrade her Core Skill first because it controls her Energy Regen conversion and the main effects supporting her Anomaly role.

Special Attack follows because her EX attacks and cyclones are central to her rotation. Chain Attack upgrades cover her Ultimate, while Assist upgrades support the defensive swaps she can use throughout a fight.

Basic Attack and Dodge are lower priorities. Velina usually gains more from returning to her teammates than from extending her own Basic Attack string.

Combat skill levels improve direct damage and Daze, but they do not replace proper Anomaly stats and character levels.

Best Velina Teams

Phoenix + Velina + Remielle

Phoenix.webpPhoenix Velina.webpVelina Remielle.webpRemielle

This premium triple-Anomaly lineup combines Phoenix's Anomaly CRIT effects with the Velina and Remielle core.

Velina supplies Windswept, cyclone damage, and Anomaly Buildup RES reduction. Remielle strengthens the team's Anomaly damage, while Phoenix uses the setup for her Fire Anomaly and Abloom attacks.

Establish the required Anomaly effects before committing to Phoenix's finishers. Velina should return periodically to spend Energy and refresh her cyclone setup rather than compete for extended field time.

For Phoenix's equipment and skill recommendations, see our ZZZ Phoenix Build Guide.

Promeia + Velina + Remielle

Promeia.webpPromeia Velina.webpVelina Remielle.webpRemielle

Promeia and Velina support each other's Abloom mechanics. Velina's Vortex and Abloom triggers help Promeia generate resources for her stronger attacks, while Promeia increases the team's Abloom damage and enables its Abloom attacks to ignore enemy DEF.

Remielle adds Anomaly damage and buffs, completing the triple-Anomaly lineup.

Keep Velina's cyclone active while Promeia performs her main attack sequence. This is a strong option for players who already have Promeia built, particularly against Ice-weak enemies.

Jane + Velina + Yuzuha

Jane.webpJane Velina.webpVelina Yuzuha.webpYuzuha

Jane benefits from repeatedly triggering Physical Anomaly against Windswept enemies. Her Assault-related bonuses can also benefit the corresponding Vortex damage, creating strong synergy beyond simply pairing two different attributes.

Yuzuha supports Anomaly buildup and damage, while Velina contributes off-field pressure and Daze.

This team suits players who want Jane to remain the main on-field character rather than constantly switching between two field-hungry damage dealers.

Piper + Velina + Lucy

Piper.webpPiper Velina.webpVelinaLucy.webpLucy

Piper and Lucy offer a lower-cost team around Velina.

Piper handles on-field Physical Anomaly buildup, Lucy provides ATK support, and Velina adds Wind Anomaly and Vortex access. Piper and Lucy also satisfy each other's faction conditions.

It does not require two additional limited S-Rank Agents, making it a useful starting point while you build a larger Anomaly roster.

Velina Mindscape Cinema

Velina main role is complete at M0. She can already apply Windswept, enable Vortex, summon cyclones, and support her team through Anomaly Buildup RES reduction.

M1 improves her cyclone's Daze and adds resistance ignore to relevant Vortex and Windswept damage. It is a meaningful upgrade for players investing further in her teams.

M2 improves Windbite generation and allows an infused Sweeping Cyclone to build its corresponding Attribute Anomaly. It also strengthens her Windswept and Vortex bonuses.

M6 improves her Windbite cycle, Wind Anomaly buildup, and the damage gained from refreshing Windswept. It is a luxury investment rather than a requirement.

For most accounts, completing a compatible team is more important than immediately pursuing multiple copies of Velina.

Should You Pull Velina?

Velina is especially worth considering if you already have Remielle or want to build around Phoenix, Aria, Jane, or another compatible Anomaly damage dealer.

Her appeal is role compression: she contributes off-field damage, Anomaly buildup, debuffs, and Daze without needing the field time of a conventional carry.

She is less valuable if your account mainly uses Attack teams or characters whose rotations depend heavily on Disorder. Wind teams follow a different reaction cycle, so Velina is not an automatic upgrade for every Agent with the Anomaly specialty.

Start by checking whether you can form a complete team around her. An existing Energy Regen W-Engine or suitable A-Rank option can support her gameplay while you decide whether Joyau Dore is worth the extra pulls.

Velina FAQ

Can Velina Replace a Stun Agent?

In some Anomaly teams, yes. Her cyclones contribute substantial Daze, though she does not provide every benefit of a dedicated Stun Agent.

Is Velina Good With Miyabi or Yanagi?

They can work together, but the synergy is less natural. Wind

Can Velina Use Four-Piece Moonlight Lullaby?

Its main four-piece team buff requires a Support Agent. Velina should normally use only its two-piece Energy Regen effect.

Why Does More Anomaly Proficiency Not Always Increase Vortex Damage?

Vortex depends on the other Attribute Anomaly involved, not simply Velina

Conclusion

Velina brings more than off-field damage to an Anomaly team. Her cyclones help maintain Wind Anomaly, build Daze, and create opportunities for her teammates to trigger Vortex.

Focus on a reliable Energy cycle, well-rolled Drive Discs, and teammates who can make full use of Windswept. A smooth rotation will do more for her performance than chasing every upgrade at once.

Good luck with your pulls, Proxies, and may Velina arrive early.
